Gain a Better Understanding of KBL’s Hydropneumatics Pressure Boosting System – HYPN

The Hydropneumatic Pressure Boosting System or HYPN is KBL’s path-breaking innovation in the field of pumping. It is an intelligent water supply system that enables you to adjust the flow on the basis of demand. VEMC is one of the leading pump and electric control panel manufacturers in Mumbai, and in this blog, we tell you all about KBL’s HYPN system.

What is HYPN?

The HYPN is a system that brings together a range of devices and equipment such as pumps, motors, control panels, tanks, pipes and accessories to orchestrate fluid handling. As per need, a number of pumps such as inline, end suction, split case pumps and sump pumps are used in tandem in the HYPN system. It curbs the usage of energy and maintenance costs by controlling the supply of the liquid on the basis of demand. Users can also monitor and control the water supply on their smartphones or laptops through KBL remote monitoring system.

Key features of HYPN

HYPN system offers some of the most outstanding features that are rapidly transforming the pumpin industry and bringing it in line with latest business and environmental needs.

  1. HYPN systems operate in accordance with the water demand. This means it is a self-adjusting system that only pumps water as per demand.
  2. When no pumps are in use, the HYPN automatically turns them off. This smart feature helps users save energy units and also reduces the carbon footprint of the facility.
  3. HYPN system maintains the system pressure all the time and avoids fluctuations.
  4. With HYPN, users can remotely access their fluid handling system through a desktop or smartphone-based dashboard. Thus, without being physically present at the site, the users can control and monitor the entire system with ease.
  5. HYPN is a smart pumping system that has demonstrated higher efficiency levels, lower maintenance costs and longer equipment lifespan.

How HYPN system is different

As any electrical panel manufacturer in Mumbai will tell you, conventional fluid handling systems have no way to adjust the pumps to the demand. They require manual intervention every step of the way. When used in high-rise buildings, their biggest drawback is the drop of pressure as soon as the demand for water increases and vice versa. In contrast, HYPN uses a combination of fixed-speed and variable-speed pumps which helps maintain the desired pressure based on demand.

On the basis of flow, there are 3 configurations of HYPN systems:

  1. FX constant speed system: This only has constant speed pumps and is used in buildings with very little variation in pressure demand such as residential buildings and bungalows.
  2. MX cascade system: This is a cost-effective medium-sized system ideal for moderate flow variations such as industrial and commercial applications.
  3. EX all pump VFD system: This is a large-sized system ideal for dynamic flow variations in townships, hospitals, airports, malls, and metro stations.
