Our History: Story Of the Decades

1948

Foundation Day

Vijay Engineering & Machinery company was founded by
Shri. Sharad Kumar Shah on 11th August, 1948

The Vision of the Company Was to Become the Most Reliable and Endearing Electromechanical Solutions Provider.

VEMC Began Marching Ahead by Building the Traditions of Excellence and Uncompromised Quality and Service.

1950-60

Era of Building Relationships
  • Initially, VEMC began its business with Parry & Company for providing Peter fielding engine solutions.
  • VEMC joined hands with Kirloskar Brothers Ltd for selling Peter fielding engines & agriculture pumps.
  • In 1957, VEMC did a tie-up with a German Company named MICO.
  • Opened offices in Kolhapur, Hubli, Bijapur & Solapur.

1960-70

An Era of Gearing up Towards Government Business
  • VEMC started dealing with DGS&D, and started undertaking projects in Ahmedabad, Delhi, Kolkata & Southern region of India for pump sets and Peter fielding engines.
  • VEMC also began its business with Central Railways and Western Railways in a big way.
  • Partnered with Jyoti Engineering and began selling the vertical turbine pumin the Western regions of India.
  • Established a company in Kolkata by the name of Rajendra Engineering.

1970- 80

An Era of Business Expansion
  • A stepping stone towards the electricity sector.
  • VEMC added MSEB to its prime customer base.
  • Began undertaking turnkey projects (supply, erection, commissioning).
  • VEMC made an entry in SICT jobs & life irrigation projects.
  • Opened a new office in Bangalore in the name of Shailesh Engineering.

1980 -90

An Era of Revolution & New Ideas
  • This decade saw a revolution in the VEMC's industrial business with the entry of Mr. Shashank Shah.
  • VEMC shifted the focus to the industrial sector at large.
  • Kirloskar Brothers appointed VEMC for offering industrial pumps & valves solutions.

  • Awarded as the No.1 Channel Partner of Kirloskar Brothers Ltd across India in 1996.
  • VEMC did a Strong team-building to offer Industrial Solutions and Technical Support to its Customers.
  • VEMC Compounded its Business with a 20% CAGR.

2000-2010

An Era of Resilience
  • VEMC was continuously awarded as No.1 Distributor in industrial businesses by Kirloskar Brothers Limited continually for 5 consecutive years in a row(1999-2005)!
  • VEMC had to face few challenges with regard to business growth. This was a time where the company had to relook at their strategies.
  • VEMC began to do business with MCGM, Naval dockyard, Mazgaon, etc.

2010-2020

An Era of Brand Building with Fresh Perspective
  • This era brought novel ideas into action.
  • VEMC started selling solutions and not just products!
  • VEMC began manufacturing the control panels.
  • Became the No.1 HYPN system seller of Kirloskar Brothers Ltd in the first year itself.
  • VEMC established the solar business with the name of VEMCO Solar.
  • Collaborated with ELGi for providing the air compressors solutions.
